Research Help: Prayers

Hey, History lovers! I could use some help. I need an 18th century prayer that I could use in the next issue of The Dreamer... and if it could pertain to healing, sick people getting better, etc, that would be awesome.

Does anyone know of a resource I could go to find one? And not the Book of Common Prayer, seeing as how that's Church of England stuff. I saw a book mentioned online, a collection of Puritan Prayers called Valley of Vision. My library doesn't have a copy. Does anyone out there?

Not sure if this helps but...I know that if you ask someone who works at the library and explain what it's for they might be able to do a national search to find the book for you.

I will look and see if Baylor's library has it for you. And If not I'll see if they have any other books of the sort. It's a Christian University, I'm sure they have SOMETHING in their library. lol

Good news!

Baylor has two copies-one is checked out until May 3 and the other is in the rare collection and can only be brought out by appointment but tomorrow morning after my sociolinguistics quiz I can schedule one for Friday and see what useful material might be in there. I'll try to get scans but I might just have to write it down and type it up in an email if that works. I've not used Moody's research library materials, just the Texas Collection in Carroll, and of course, the ABL where I work. lol

OMG, Caera, that would be amazing! There was one prayer I found online from there "The Valley of Vision" but someone left a comment on one site where it was posted that said that prayer was written by the editor and was the only non-Puritan prayer in there.

Let me know if that's true! And if not, if there's another one that might work.

I was referred to the wrong person and she didn't get back to me until the right person had already left for the day so I wasn't able to schedule an appointment yet but they've got my info so hopefully I'll have a game plan tomorrow.
