Okay, I'm asking for two reasons:

The first is a bit selfish; I have to interview someone who works in the profession that I'm majoring in for a paper in one of my classes, and I'm majoring in US history XD

The second just my honest curiosity :3

So... do any of you work at historical sites (or any history-related jobs) or know someone who does? Very Happy

I know a couple of people who do. Want me to send you their emails?

Do local historical societies count?

I am a seasonal park ranger at the Eisenhower National Historic site outside of Gettysburg PA.

I should probably add what that is since no one has ever heard of it. General Eisenhower purchased a farm outside of Gettysburg shortly before he ran for the presidency. He used it as a presidential retreat during the majority of his presidency and after leaving the presidency he lived the remainder of his life there.

We give tours of the Eisenhower home which has 98% of the original furnishings as well at tours of the grounds/farm.

I don't know that it's a "historic" site, but I work in a museum full of historical documents-world center for all things related to the poets Robert and Elizabeth Browning...

Apologies for taking so long to reply; a lot of things came up since I posted, but anyway...

comic-chic - That would be great! Do you still have my e-mail? Or I guess you could PM them to me...whichever you'd rather do.

DawnChorus - Sure! Which society do you work at?

Alyce - Wow, that's pretty cool! I remember visiting an Eisenhower site when I was in middle school in Kansas, but I didn't know about the one you work at. I might have to look into that if I visit PA again (I used to live there, too).

Caera - Haha, I'd consider that more or less historic. That's really interesting, though!

JadeRaven - While I don't actually work at an historical society, I know plenty of people who do. So like Comic Chic, I could provide you with an email or two. (I'm the Head Librarian at the public library, and in some sense am an "honorary member" of the historical society; we share resources and forward researchers back and forth. So I have some working knowledge of what they do. I also attended their annual meeting last night, but only because they had a speaker on the Old Leatherman.)

I work at three: the Nathan Hale Homestead, the Avery-Copp House, and the Hempstead Houses, which are all in Connecticut. I wish I'd seen this last month!
