So it hasn't happened yet but unless Lora decides to go AU and not kill of certain characters, we know we're all going to need a place to cry about it, so I thought I'd make a thread for it, when the time comes.

I *really* want it to turn AU and have certain characters live. :<
& you know what's even more sad? The fact we know it's gonna happen and it's gonna happen quick. Painful Fridays. It's going to be a flood at the Dreamer site when that happens. *BAWL*

I'm already choking up over here because I know what's going to happen and I feel helpless. In a strange sort of way, I feel as if..If Ms. Innes makes Nathan live this time around, she'll change history and the actual Nathan will live, that's how much she's drawn me into the story, I feel so silly and totally sacriligous saying this but, that's how I feel.
*takes a box of tissues and sits on a comfy couch to wait for the inevitable update*

I want him to live, but at the same time I kind of feel like that would be taking away "his moment" you know? Grrr.

frankly, I'm more upset about the first death than the second...I came into the comic knowing about the second (doesn't every kid learn that one?) Plus, it was her picture of "Defiance" on dA that brought me to the Dreamer...

Wasn't until I was already quite attached to the other that I read up on him and realized he was going too Sad Poor, poor Freddie.

Think Bea could drag Nathan into the 21st century with her? He might be able to handle it(I don't think the other one would want to handle the change).

sigh. I'm a mother in her mid-30s, and I'm still getting weepy about something that happened 235 years ago.

We've a while yet...as near as I can figure, current date is September 8th (assuming Nathan volunteers this same evening, which Knowlton seems to be pushing for). He's ferried into Long Island on the 12th. The Battle of Harlem Heights is September 16th, where we'll lose one. September 22nd we'll lose the other (barring any alternative history). Considering one night can take 5-6 weeks of the Dreamer to cover (and whether we go back to the 21st century storyline for a while), Lora may be aiming for an actual September release date...
At least, that's my best guess.

I knew what was going to happen in this story, yet I hoped somehow it would not happen. Ugggh. I am too emotinal to really say anything. Probably when the day comes that our beloved hero meets his end, I shall take a box of tissues and sit on a comfy couch with everyone and bawl my eyes out. Really, I have never meet Nathan Hale, but I feel like he is my brother or my best friend, and losing him in this story is more than I can emotionally bear. Crying or Very sad

Allow me to join in.
I think when and if it does happen, there going to be a lot of really sad fangirls out there.
At least if the comic gets made into a movie, the man who plays Nathan will an Oscar.

He'd better get an Oscar! lol

@Nessili Hehehe, I'm pretty sure Nathan can handle 21st century but I don't think he'd care much for it.

And most people do learn about Nathan in schools but most forget his name by the time they get to high school. He's just been my man since I was 5 so...lol

I thought it was the 15th, because of the Murrays: http://thedreamercomic.com/blog.php/?p=2516

Unless Lora moved that event up a bit and I just didn't realize. But that would mean we're currently the night of the 15th/early morning 16th. If that's the case then we're at a serious uh oh. Shocked

She already changed things up a bit by having them at the Murrays so she may as well have changed the date. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The next several weeks worth of updates are going to be insane either way.

Consipericy theory time!!!! Alan and Bea witness Nathan being hung, Bea faints, and wakes up in the presant day. She goes to school still mourning Nathan. She walks into History class and sees a new teacher at the desk. She tackles him in a flying hug. Nathan gasps and says "Ms. Whaley!?!? I was just hung by the British! What happened!?!?" Bea pulls away and says "Providence!"

I think she must have changed some dates around, since the CT SAR page says this:

"On September 6th [Washington] wrote, “We have not been able to obtain the least information as to the enemy’s plans.” In sheer despair at the need of better information then the Tories of New York City would give him, the great commander consulted his council, and at their direction summoned Knowlton to ask for some volunteer of intelligence, who would find his way into the English lines, and bring back some tidings that could be relied upon. Knowlton summoned a number of officers, and stated to them the wishes of their great chief. The appeal was received with dead silence...Knowlton felt that he must report his failure to Washington. But Nathan Hale, his youngest captain, broke the silence. “I will undertake it,” he said. He had come late to the meeting. He was pale from recent sickness..."

Though it looks like Alan has Nathan's sickness this time through...

(and yes, I enjoy researching this kind of thing entirely too much...doesn't help that I'm trying to write a story about the same time period, so I'm already predisposed to jumping into new research. But I'll behave and stop doing it now. Sorry Embarassed )

Yeah, Lora had mentioned to me a few years back he wasn't going to be sick in her version, now I know why. Well I'm hoping that she did just make the Murrays happen earlier so our men have a little more time. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Neutral What a Face

And I really just wanted to use that face. lol

After today's page, as he said "Goodbye" to Bea, I really think Alan is going to die from his Tuberculosis or Consumption as it was known back then. Apparently it was highly contagious then, so I wonder if Bea will get it too. Sad

There is some possible foreshadowing of such a dreary fate for poor Alan:
http://thedreamercomic.com/comic.php?id=242

"When I enlisted I knew I might die at twenty-seven. But, dear God, let it not be from a damn cough."

However, I'm more of the "Lora's yanking our chain" opinion too Very Happy
