Hey everyone!

I was wondering if maybe someday we could meet up with each other somewhere. We could talk about Nathan, the webcomic, and anything which catches our interest. What do you think? Of course, it might take a few years, lol. I do not have a car yet... Very Happy

I think that is a great idea! I am hoping to be up in that area in 2015 anyway for the 240th anniversary of the Lexington and Concord, and I could drive down to Connecticut from Massachusetts. I also hope to be living in Rhode Island by 2013 too. XD

I was going to try to attend either Anime Boston, the Boston Comic Con or Conneticon next year. And if I do, I was planning on doing a Dreamer Meet Up probably in the Boston area. Since you know, that's where The Dreamer takes place.

There's a "Warren Tavern" near Bunker Hill. Does anyone in the area know if it's in a sketchy area or not? Because I know parts of Charlestown are a little rough, right?

If this is in a decent neighborhood, I thought this would be the perfect place to do it!

The Warren Tavern is in a nice neighborhood, just down the hill from the Bunker Hill monument (and the newish Bunker Hill museum, which opened in 2007). I ate there about 20 years ago, and it was nice then.
Gardner's Regiment of Charlestown dines there following their wreath-laying ceremony at Bunker Hill on Joseph Warren's birthday. I'll be there for the event this year and can scope it out.

Realized I never followed up on this. I didn't make it to the Warren Tavern back in April, but rest assured that it's in a perfectly safe part of town. I suddenly remembered this discussion when I just walked in on my parents, who were in the middle of watching The Town. I started going "Hey, that's the Charlestown Bridge! I walked across that!" and "Yeah, that's where I crossed the street!" My Dad said "You're not allowed to go to Boston anymore." Shocked
But seriously, those were scenes shot closer to the North End. They had to have done some quick editing, to not get the red Freedom Trail lines in any shots. And Dad will never keep me away from Boston. Very Happy

I'll actually be at the Warren Tavern myself in a few days! The only question is... do I wear my tricorn or not? ^__^

Absolutely! (I think it's part of the dress code.) And if you forget your tricorn, you can pick one up at the Bunker Hill Museum gift shop.

The real question is can I get a Colonel Prescott or Dr. Warren plushy in that gift shop?

Laughing Y'know, I think they did have plushies of some kind there - definitely not Warren, though. I would have posted that! But do report in, if they've expanded their inventory. (Wonder if the Freedom Trail Foundation takes requests...?)

So Anime Boston, eh? Should I start a whole new thread for planning deets or post here? If I'm going to be able to do this at all I'll need to start saving now. Thus I need to calculate how much I need to save.

Aside from airfaire and convention fees to know about rooms at the hotel. I can look up how much that costs but the best way to defray the cost is to room with other people. Who all would be staying at the hotel, or if Dreamer fans in the area are willing to put people up for the night, how do we get to the con, etc.

Rooming and transportation are the real biggies to plan. I can factor in food, convention money, and the costume costs (if I DO get to cosplay) easily enough.

Also, we gotta plan sight seeing...lol

I think a fresh thread for Anime Boston 2012 is a good idea. Then people can post helpful links, ideas, final decisions, etc. (How much trouble can we plan in 5 months?) Laughing
